About Kailash 2026
Connecting pilgrims from every corner of the world to the sacred center of the universe — Mount Kailash.
A global pilgrimage platform built on safety, integrity, cultural sensitivity, and sustainability.
Where It All Began
Our Story
Kailash 2026 was born from a simple yet profound vision: to create a bridge between the world's pilgrims and the sacred mountain of Kailash. Our journey began years ago when our founder, Lucas, made his first pilgrimage to Mount Kailash. Standing before the pyramid-shaped peak at dawn, watching the first rays of sunlight illuminate the eternal snow, he experienced something that words cannot fully capture — a sense of homecoming, of standing at the center of all things.
What struck him most was not only the mountain's majesty but also the incredible diversity of pilgrims he encountered along the kora path. Hindu sadhus from Varanasi walked alongside Tibetan Buddhist monks from Lhasa. Bön practitioners from remote Zhang Zhung villages performed their ancient counter-clockwise circumambulation while Jain pilgrims from Gujarat chanted their sacred mantras. On that narrow, rocky path at over 5,000 meters, differences of language, nationality, and tradition dissolved into a shared reverence for something far greater than any single faith.
Yet he also saw the challenges that pilgrims faced: confusing permit processes, language barriers, inadequate preparation for extreme altitude, and a lack of reliable, culturally sensitive information. The idea took root: what if there were a platform that could serve pilgrims from every tradition, every country, and every background — providing not just logistical support, but genuine cultural understanding and spiritual context? That idea became Kailash 2026. Today, we are a dedicated team of pilgrimage specialists, cultural experts, and high-altitude professionals working together to make the sacred journey to Kailash accessible, safe, and meaningful for pilgrims around the world.
What Drives Us
Our Mission
To be the most trusted, culturally informed, and safety-focused pilgrimage platform connecting the world to Mount Kailash — honoring all four sacred traditions and serving pilgrims of every faith with equal respect and dedication.
Global Access
We work tirelessly to simplify the complex permit processes, navigate diplomatic channels, and create clear pathways for pilgrims from every country to reach Kailash. Whether you are traveling from Mumbai, New York, London, Tokyo, or Johannesburg, we are here to guide you every step of the way.
Cultural Understanding
We believe that the Kailash pilgrimage is immeasurably richer when you understand its profound cultural and spiritual context. Our resources, guides, and expert team provide deep insight into the four religious traditions, the sacred geography, and the millennia-old customs that make Kailash unique among all the world's holy sites.
Interfaith Harmony
Mount Kailash is the only place on Earth sacred simultaneously to four major religions. We honor all four traditions equally, creating space for Hindu pujas, Buddhist mandala offerings, Bön rituals, and Jain meditations alike. We believe the mountain itself teaches the most powerful lesson: that different paths can lead to the same sacred truth.
What We Stand For
Our Core Values
Everything we do is guided by four foundational principles. These are not just words on a page — they are the standards we hold ourselves to every day, on every pilgrimage, with every pilgrim.
Safety Above All
Your well-being is our first priority
High-altitude pilgrimage is inherently demanding, and we take our responsibility for your safety with the utmost seriousness. Every guide on our team is trained in high-altitude first aid, equipped with pulse oximeters and supplemental oxygen, and connected via satellite communication at all times during the kora.
Our itineraries are designed with proper acclimatization built in — we never rush the process. We monitor weather conditions daily, adjust plans when necessary, and maintain established emergency evacuation protocols. We require comprehensive travel insurance from all participants and verify coverage before departure.
We maintain a guide-to-pilgrim ratio that ensures every individual receives adequate attention and support. Our team conducts regular safety audits of all routes, accommodations, and transport providers. When it comes to safety, we believe there is no such thing as being too careful.
Integrity & Transparency
Honesty in everything we do
We believe trust is earned through transparency. We provide clear, upfront information about costs, itinerary details, physical requirements, and the realistic challenges of the pilgrimage. There are no hidden fees, no surprise charges, and no sugarcoating of the difficulties involved in high-altitude trekking.
We work only with licensed, reputable local partners in Tibet who share our commitment to ethical practices. Our guides and porters are paid fair wages, provided with proper equipment, and treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. We do not exploit local communities or cut corners to reduce costs.
If something goes wrong — and in the unpredictable environment of the high Himalayas, things sometimes do — we communicate honestly and immediately with our pilgrims. We take responsibility, we solve problems, and we learn from every experience to do better next time.
Cultural Sensitivity
Respect for all traditions and peoples
Mount Kailash is not a tourist attraction — it is one of the most sacred sites on Earth, revered by billions of people across four great religious traditions. We approach every aspect of our work with profound respect for this sanctity. Our guides educate pilgrims about proper conduct at monasteries, temples, and sacred sites along the route.
We honor the unique practices of each tradition: the clockwise kora of Buddhists and Hindus, the counter-clockwise kora of Bön practitioners, the sacred bathing rituals of Hindu pilgrims at Lake Manasarovar, and the meditative practices of Jain ascetics. We never elevate one tradition above another — all are equally valid paths to the sacred.
Beyond religious sensitivity, we respect the local Tibetan communities who have been the custodians of this sacred landscape for millennia. We follow local customs, support local economies by using Tibetan-owned guesthouses and services where possible, and ensure our presence is a positive contribution to the region.
Sustainability
Protecting the sacred for future generations
The Kailash region is one of the most pristine and ecologically fragile environments on the planet. We are committed to ensuring that pilgrimage does not come at the cost of environmental degradation. Our groups follow strict leave-no-trace principles: every piece of waste is packed out, and we use reusable containers instead of single-use plastics wherever possible.
We are actively working to reduce our carbon footprint through optimized logistics, group travel that minimizes per-person emissions, and partnerships with organizations involved in reforestation and conservation efforts on the Tibetan Plateau. We educate all pilgrims about environmental responsibility before and during their journey.
Our sustainability commitment extends to cultural preservation as well. We support local Tibetan communities, contribute to the maintenance of monasteries along the kora route, and work to ensure that the economic benefits of pilgrimage tourism flow to the people who have been the traditional guardians of this sacred landscape. The mountain must remain sacred and accessible for generations of pilgrims yet to come.
